Temptation of Jesus – Can Jesus sin?

One very touching concept about the book of Hebrews is that Jesus can sympathize with us.

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Heb 4:15)

We know Jesus did not sin, and Jesus was tempted genuinely.

But how did Jesus able to sympathize with us? The standard of being sinless is absolute. Remember even thoughts would count (Matt 5:27-28). So when Jesus was tempted and did not sin, He didn’t even have a move in His thoughts of craving in.

This is almost like when I hit someone, not only would he not move, he would not even shaken a bit! Then if someone who is sinless is tempted, how would that temptation be any similar to ours, allowing the sinless person to sympathize with us?

This is a similar concept of why God cannot be tempted with evil (James 1:13). Of course the evil is not going to obey God to not tempt Him. But it is just that no temptation would have any effects on God.

Jesus is man. He can feel the temptation forces although it can do nothing to Him.

But can Jesus sin even though He did not sin? Since Jesus is God and God cannot sin, Jesus as the perfect God-man cannot sin either. The analogy is like a human body would not stand the hit of a bullet. But someone wearing a bullet-proof vest would not be harm by any bullets.
